Fall Season Focus

Time to Put the Work In

As we start our next season I feel it’s a good time to go over the focus and goals of a fall schedule. This will be a short blog post because the message is simple. This is your season to get better.

In our sport, winter is our time to shine. Basketball is THEE winter sport in the US! Spring and summer is when we travel, grow team chemistry, and see how we stand up next to other teams nationally, but Fall is when we take all of the information we’ve learned since last winter season, put a plan together, and GRIND OUT!

This should be a time of pure focus on development and grit so you are prepared for the upcoming season with your high school or feeder team. This is the time of year where you just put your head down, do the reps, put in the work, and keep your mind focused on the end goal.

Winning games is always a great feeling and it should be what we always strive for, but during this time of year, I just want to try to get through to you that your growth and development is what matters right now.

You should have a ball in your hand every single day and be getting the work in outside of practices and games. My advice is to build a schedule for yourself. Take it seriously and stick to it. You’ll be proud of yourself and feel different walking into winter season.
